Where it is

The city’s plan bounds the Pensacola Historic District by Chase Street on the north, Ninth Avenue on the east, Palafox Street on the west and Pensacola Bay on the south, 36 blocks in all. It sits just south of Aragon, a newer development with its own design code and review board, the plan says. The city designated the district in 1968 and it was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. The plan lists French Creole cottages, Victorian, Greek Revival and frame vernacular buildings, mostly from the 19th and 20th centuries.

On the city’s zoning map, the district’s historic zones (HR-1, HR-2, HC-1 and HC-2) cover about 108 acres. Its streets include Government, Intendencia, Zarragossa and Romana streets running east and west, and Alcaniz, Jefferson, Florida Blanca and Tarragona streets running north and south.

Escambia County’s address map places about 460 addresses in those zones, all in the city and all in ZIP code 32502. About one in nine carries a unit number. Work on the outside of a building in the district goes to the city’s Architectural Review Board; our building permits and zoning guide has the contacts.

Schools

We checked 10 addresses spread across the district in the district’s Find Your School lookup for 2026-27. Nine returned schools, and all nine shared one set:

Level School Address 2026 grade
Elementary Global Learning Academy 80 N. P St. C
Middle J.H. Workman Middle 6299 Lanier Drive B
High Pensacola High 500 W. Maxwell St. C

Grades are the Florida Department of Education’s 2026 results. Global Learning Academy rose from a D in 2025 and Workman from a C; Pensacola High fell from a B. Check each address yourself, since zones can change. More is in our schools guide.

Home values

Zillow does not publish a value for the district, so ZIP code 32502 is the closest guide. The Zillow Home Value Index put the typical home at:

ZIP 32502 $336,653 $340,311 -1.1%
Pensacola (city) $266,727 $263,477 +1.2%

The index is a modeled typical value for the middle third of homes, not a sale price. ZIP 32502 also covers downtown and part of the Westside. More is on our home prices page.

Parks and trails

OpenStreetMap places two parks inside the district’s historic zones:

  • Seville Square, the historic square with a gazebo, benches, swings and a historical marker.

Bartram Park and Veterans Memorial Park sit just outside the district’s historic zones. Bike Pensacola’s Seville Historic District bike loop runs through the area; see our walking and biking trails guide and our parks and trails guide.
