Hurricane Isaias. All Escambia County schools and district offices closed Friday, Oct. 9, ahead of the storm, the county and city said in their joint storm update. Check the district website and your school’s messages before Monday for reopening plans; the second grading period on the calendar starts Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Enrolling a new student
New and returning families register online through the Focus student system. The district’s checklist asks for:
- Proof of residence
- Birth certificate
- Verification of Social Security number
- Immunization record
- A physical exam
- The completed online or PDF enrollment form
Students who want a school other than their zoned one can apply through controlled open enrollment or a student transfer. Some schools are over capacity and keep a waiting list; the district posts the list on its Enrollment Services page. Military families have their own district page with transfer help.
