New Year’s Eve falls on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2026. The one confirmed event so far is the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra’s New Year’s Eve concert at the Saenger Theatre. Most bars, restaurants and beach organizers announce their plans in November and December; below is what they did last year, marked as 2025, so you know what to watch for.

Confirmed for 2026: the symphony at the Saenger

“My Way” featuring Broadway’s Ashley Brown, 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31. The Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Peter Rubardt, welcomes back Broadway soprano and Gulf Breeze native Ashley Brown for music from the Great American Songbook. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the concert runs about two hours, so it ends well before midnight. It is part of the orchestra’s Pops! series at the Saenger Theatre on Palafox Place.

What happened last year (2025)

These are 2025 plans from the Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce’s holiday schedule; the 2026 versions have not been announced.

  • New Year’s Eve fireworks: at midnight Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, over Santa Rosa Sound off Pensacola Beach, sponsored by Escambia County.
  • Polar Bear Plunge: noon to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, in Santa Rosa Sound, hosted by Paradise Inn/Bar & Grill, with proceeds to the Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce.

We will update both when the chamber posts its 2026 schedule.

Downtown

Pensacola’s Pelican Drop, the downtown New Year’s Eve tradition, had no 2026 date from any organizer as of Oct. 10, and neither did downtown fireworks. Downtown’s restaurants and bars along Palafox Street are the usual place to ring in the year; see our live music and nightlife guide and date night guide for venues, and check each venue’s own page for New Year’s Eve plans and reservations.

New Year’s Day

  • City offices: New Year’s Day is a City of Pensacola holiday. The city’s 2027 holiday trash schedule had not been posted as of Oct. 10; check the holiday collection page or call Sanitation at 850-435-1890 in December.
  • Federal offices and post offices are closed on New Year’s Day, a federal holiday.

Fireworks at home

Florida law allows consumer fireworks on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Keep them away from storm debris piles, which can still line some streets after Hurricane Isaias, and never pick up a dud. See our fireworks page for safety rules.

What this means for you

  • Symphony tickets are on sale now; New Year’s Eve is a Thursday.
  • Beach fireworks and the plunge are likely but not yet announced; check back in December.
  • Book dinner early and plan your ride home.
